365 Cards: You Crack Me Up!

Welcome to another What Will You Stamp? design team card! This week we are using our fun For Peep's Sake stamp set! :)

I busted out the ink pads and Aqua Painter again this week to watercolor this awesome image! I inked the chicks in Daffodil Delight, then took my Bermuda Bay Stampin' Write Marker to color the egg on the middle chick. I then watercolored the image in with my Aqua Painter using more Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Pool Party, and Pear Pizzazz. I finished off the coloring of the image by taking my Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Marker and going over the legs and beak with the pen, doing the same for the eyes with my Project Life Journaling Pen. I finished the card by adding a flower punched from Melon Mambo cardstock and a rhinestone.

I just love this stamp set! Isn't it adorable?! :) Now go check out all the other fantastic cards this week from the What Will You Stamp? design team!!

Updated to add that I'm also entering this in this week's CASE-ing the Catty challenge -- they have an awesome challenge blog and by happy accident my card today also meets their challenge for Easter cards! :)

Updated AGAIN to add that I won top CASE over at CASE-ing the Catty! How exciting -- I'm so honored. Thank you so much ladies! :)

365 Cards: Happy Birthday to my Husband!

Another Monday, another What Will You Stamp? design team card! :)

Last weekend was my husband's birthday! Of course, I had to make him a card. ;) I don't make manly cards often enough... this one was fun and came together quickly! I used the Starburst Framelits to cut a hole in the card front, stamped a background with Gorgeous grunge and then white embossed the sentiment to finish the front. And I used my blender pen and ink pads to color the cake I stamped on the inside.

A fun card for my awesome husband! :) Now go check out all the other fantastic cards this week from the What Will You Stamp? design team!!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a great week!

January & February 2015 Book Report.

Since I started off so late in January and only the first book on the list below was read I'm combining the two months! I need to get cracking if I'm going to make it through all these books I want to read :)

Books I read in January and February...

  • I Didn't Come Here to Make Friends: Confessions of a Reality Show Villain by Courtney Robertson  I was definitely not a fan of Courtney's when she was on the Bachelor. I'm still not a huge fan, but I really appreciated hearing her side of the story and, more notably, the reality of living with the public judging you. It must be difficult and I have a lot of empathy for her after reading the book. It was well written, interesting. While it was slow in some parts and I got bored with all the name dropping, I still liked it. Not my favorite book ever, but I would totally recommend reading it to anyone who likes to watch the Bachelor/Bachelorette!
  • Perfect Timing by Jill Mansell
It was my read on the plane ride to/from Orlando at the end of the month. I ended up sleeping 95% of all flights to/from so I ended up not reading much at all and finished up reading this one the first few days of February. First 50 pages? I wasn't loving this book... it kinda jumps from character to character for the narration and it's a little tough to follow. By page 100, I wanted to see what happened and how it all played out. Overall it was a fun story with interesting characters. I just still wish that the narration didn't jump around like it does. For a beach-y read kind of chick lit, romance book... too much work to follow it. You do adjust to her style. Would I read it again? Probably not, but I liked it overall for the complex story it told.
  • The Help by Kathryn Stockett
In progress... started it near the end of the month and currently enjoying reading it! :)

Where this fits into my #26booksin2015 Challenge?

What have you read so far this year?

365 Cards: Painted Petals Thank You

Happy Saturday and welcome to another JAX Starz Blog Hop! This month we are sharing fun Easter and spring projects to inspire you!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Rose Ann Marr's blog.  You can follow the full blog hop lineup below to move along from blog to blog, so you can see all of the new projects.

For this month's theme challenge I chose spring in the form of spring flowers...which we somehow already have in our flower beds here in California! Though I'm betting our recent blast of cold weather and rain is going to kill them... darn it!

I love how fast the photopolymer stamps like this set allow you to create a beautiful card without having to waste time lining the stamps up. It's completely clear so you can see exactly where to stamp those beautiful flowers on the stems! :)

Some Stampin' Tips:
  • Coordinating products. Stampin' Up! is great with coordinating tools to stamps to help you make beautiful projects quickly! I used the coordinating Spring Flowers Embossing Folder that matches the Painted Petals Stamp Set... don't you think?!
  • Coordinating colors. One of my favorite things about Stampin' Up! is that all the colors match. What shade of brown is that? Baked Brown Sugar. The Thick Twine and the cardstock match perfectly. It makes it so easy to have beautiful results when you craft without the agony of trying to match the shade you have... you will know! :)
  • Add some dimension! Notice how my card looks 3-D? It's because I added some Stampin' Dimensionals to my white notecard I stamped! They pop your pieces off your project, adding depth and dimension (hence the name?!). I rarely complete a project without them! Have you tried them yet?

The next stop is Cari Verschueren on the Jax Starz Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and I'll see you next month.

365 Cards: #happybirthday

If you've seen me in person recently, you know that I'm so excited to be an auntie again! It's probably the first or second thing out of my mouth. The last few weeks, I've been impatiently waiting for our new nephew and niece to be born. My sister-in-law is a trooper... full term with healthy twins! And during the last few weeks, I've also been making them some baby quilts that I will be sharing soon... but I needed some cards to go with them!

I wanted each baby to get a happy birthday card with their quilt and I really wanted something simple, yet pretty that was quick to make.

You might look at the stamp set and wonder... "how did she get that from those stamps?!" Well, it was quite easy... and here is a quick video to show you! :)

So in addition to new babies soon to be in our family, I am excited about this new baby... the What Will You Stamp? Challenge Blog! I love challenge blogs but I've always wondered why there isn't one that focuses on stamp sets?! I'm always looking for ideas for the stamp sets I own and I know that my customers do the same.... well, from that the idea and concept for this challenge blog was born! I have jumped in, assembled the best team of amazingly talented stampers I personally know for the design team and today is our first day! So please go check out the What Will You Stamp? Challenge Blog to see other ideas for using this stamp set and join in the fun by making something with these stamps!

To make this a little bit more fun, the Design Team members will each be giving away something fun on their posts.... so make sure you go check them out! And since I am on the Design Team, I will be giving away some Calypso Coral Baker's Twine right here as my giveaway to celebrate our new challenge blog and thank you for visiting! What do you need to do to enter you might ask? Just leave a comment below before 9 pm PST/Midnight EST on Saturday, March 7, 2015 to be entered! A winner will be drawn using random.org on Sunday... so don't wait to enter and miss out! Easy right? :)

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back every Monday to see what I will stamp next!
