365 Cards: Warm Wishes

I've been sharing more than a few Christmas cards lately... I thought it would be fun to share a card that's a little more summer-like in the middle of all this cool weather! :)

I saw this card on Pinterest and had to use the idea... I just love the little hula penguin!

365 Cards: Thinking of You at Christmas

Hope you aren't tired of seeing the Christmas cards from me because I have another one to share today!

To make the rainbow ornaments, I made my own ink pad using ink refills! I inked my stamp first in Versamark, then quickly inked up with the custom ink pad and stamped my ornament. I used Heat & Stick powder and Dazzling Diamonds to make my ornaments sparkly! :)

This awesome stamp set has a matching set of Framelits that I used to cut out the hangers for tops of the ornaments! :) So much fun!

365 Cards: Have a Cozy Christmas

Welcome to another JAX Starz Blog Hop! This month our challenge is a color challenge! We had to use black, white, and one color of our choice. :)

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Rose Ann Marr's blog.  You can follow the full blog hop lineup below to move along from blog to blog, so you can see all of the new projects.

I don't typically do black and white cards with just one accent color, but it is a fun challenge! For my one accent color I chose Cherry Cobbler.

For this card, I did lots of layers to add depth. And that ornament shape? It is actually a window to the inside of the card! :)

It's a great, classic stamp set and I'm so glad that I added it to my stash! :)

Some Stampin' Tips:

  • Dry Embossing vs. Heat Embossing. I used both on this card -- the snow on the front is dry embossed and the house with trees is heat embossed. The dry embossing gives the paper texture by forming it into a shape using pressure. The heat embossing is created using watermarking ink (Versamark) and embossing powder, which is then heated to melt and seal your image to the paper! I love using both techniques and they really add a lot of interest and dimension to your cards!
  • Die Cut "Windows". I love the end look of using this technique! All you do is die cut whatever shape you'd like into the front of your card and then stamp your image on the inside of your card through that window! So simple and such a great effect.
  • Using Only One Color. It is an easy way to get a simple, graphic effect for your projects and makes it easy to assemble multiples of the same card design on a budget -- less supplies to buy too!
Alright, that's all I have for today's hop..... the next stop is Cari Verschueren on this month's Jax Starz Blog Hop! Make sure you go check out all the fantastic ideas... I just know that everyone will have some amazing ideas to share today. Thanks for visiting and I'll see you next time! :)

365 Cards: Thinking of You at Christmas...

Happy Monday! Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving! Today I'm back to share another Christmas card using one of my favorite stamp sets called White Christmas :)

I used some of the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper and stamped my scene directly onto the patterned paper, then stamped the same image onto some Whisper White cardstock, then cut it out, lined it up to my stamped Designer Series Paper, then glued it down! The tree trunks were colored in using a marker and I stamped then cut out a polar bear and star. So easy and so cute when it was all done!

This set is definitely one I'll continue using year to year... it's so versatile and fun to use.

365 Cards: Silent Night

Happy almost Thanksgiving! Another Christmas card to share today :)

I had fun watercoloring on this card! I first stamped in versamark and then used white embossing powder to create my tree and snow scene, then watercolored over the top with Night of Navy and Elegant Eggplant.

It was a fun, quick card that would be easy to mass produce!

365 Cards: Let it Snow. Let It Snow. Let It Snow.

Happy Monday! Today I have a Christmas card to share with you... :)

This is our fun new stamp set Happy Scenes! There is a fun window framelit set that it coordinates with that I've used here today... it cuts the window and a window box! :)

To make the holly in the window box, I used the holly stamp from Snow Place and stamped into a line, then hand cut it out. It made for a fun addition to the window box I think... :)

365 Cards: Thankful For You

A quick, fun thank you card to share with you today!

Isn't that bear just too cute?! :) I love this stamp set! And I just had to use some of that woodgrain paper again!!

See those cute wooden leaves?! They are part of a set of wooden embellishments that coordinate with this stamp set and patterned paper -- so much fun to use! Also, I CASE-d the catalog a bit -- the sentiment is an exact copy of the stamping on a card! :)

365 Cards: Let it Snow!!

Welcome to another JAX Starz Blog Hop! This month our challenge is a sketch challenge!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Rose Ann Marr's blog.  You can follow the full blog hop lineup below to move along from blog to blog, so you can see all of the new projects.

I saw more than a few cards where people put antlers on the penquin and... well... I just couldn't resist!

And here is the sketch that we used:

It's a fun sketch, so if you decide to use it, I hope you'll share the card you made with me!

Some Stampin' Tips:
  • Repeating elements. When I first started making this card, I did not have any snowflakes stamped on the white paper behind my little penguin guy and it looked empty. So I looked to the patterned paper that I was using as my background and repeated the snowflakes on my white cardstock by reversing the colors -- the patterned paper was Night of Navy blue with white snowflakes so I stamped my white background with Night of Navy snowflakes! It really gives the card a fun look.
  • Mix n' Match Stamps. I do this all the time... don't be afraid to mix your stamp sets... there is no hard and fast rule that you can only use one stamp set on your cards! :)
  • Pop of Color. So I needed some contrast on my card... there was lots of dark colors with the blue and black. So I added the Cherry Cobbler to really make the sentiment stand out and frame my penguin! It's always a good idea to add some pops of color to your cards.
Alright, that's all I have for today's hop..... the next stop is Beka Laing on this month's Jax Starz Blog Hop! Make sure you go check out all the fantastic ideas... I just know that everyone will have some amazing ideas to share today. Thanks for visiting and I'll see you next time! :)

365 Cards: Give Thanks for All Things

So far I've hit all the holidays coming up except Thanksgiving... well today I thought I'd share a Thanksgiving themed thank you card! :)

I actually CASE-d this card and updated it a bit by using our current fall themed patterned paper and changing up the way that the sentiment is stamped.

This stamp set is a classic and I love using it! It's perfect for thank you cards, Thanksgiving or fall projects.

365 Cards: Nuts About You

Hard to believe how fast October has gone by! This week I wanted to break away from the holidays for a moment and share a fun love themed card I made for my husband for our 10th Anniversary back at the beginning of the month! :)

Can I pause for a second to say how obsessed I am with this wood grain patterned paper?! If you know me, you know I love the woodgrain. A LOT. And I just had to use this paper with this set! :)

The hearts were punched using the Owl punch! Another quick, easy card that didn't take very long to put together at all! :)

365 Cards: You Are a Treat...

Another Halloween idea to share with you this week! :)

I love this set and I must have sat there for thirty minutes trying to figure out how to turn this fun treat packaging stamp set into something that would work great for a card.... I finally came up with this!

To make the "you are" part of the sentilment, I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig and Basic Black Stampin' Marker to piece together the words I wanted from one of the sentiment stamps in set:

An easy way to add a few words when the sentiment doesn't quite say what you want it to! :)

365 Cards: Wishing You a Happy Halloween

I can't believe it's already October! Time to start thinking about all the fun things to make for Halloween! So here is my first Halloween card this year :)

Isn't that owl just the cutest?! I used our new Boo to You Framelits to cut out that cute little owl and pumpkin! There is even a coordinating owl stamp to match that framelit!

I finished the card off with our Washi Label punch -- it's the perfect way to add a sentiment to your projects!

365 Cards: All is Calm, All is Bright

Welcome to another JAX Starz Blog Hop! This month our challenge is to make something for the holidays! Since I have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to bust out some Christmas stamps, I made a Christmas card to share today!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Rose Ann Marr's blog.  You can follow the full blog hop lineup below to move along from blog to blog, so you can see all of the new projects.

That cute little deer? He's a cut out from an awesome piece of Designer Series Paper! :)

A quick bow made using two pieces of Cherry Cobbler Thick Baker's Twine and this card was done in less than five minutes!

Some Stampin' Tips:

  • Black, White + a little pop of color. Sometimes that is all you need to keep a card simple and quick to make! In this instance, I stuck with black, white and grey for my background, then layered on my handcut deer and used Cherry Cobbler for the rest!
  • Simple Layers. One of my favorite tricks is to layer on top of the card base rather than stamp directly on it -- it gives the card a little extra dimension and, if you make a mistake, you don't have to toss a whole card base!
  • Fussy Cutting. That's how I got that cute little deer! It's the fancy crafting terminology for cutting out something by hand. There is actually a sheet of patterned paper filled with cute little deer just like this guy and I was dying to cut one out for a card!
