How To: Sushi Punch Art

Here's a punch art tutorial for the card I shared earlier today!

I'd love to see your sushi punch art... if you use, please share a link so I can check them out

Happy Friday!! :)

365 Cards: Happy Valentine's Day Sushi!

So several weeks ago I did one of my favorite things to do in Target.... browse the store for inspiration.  Here's one of the offspring of my favorite past time... :)

I saw a super cute card by Papayrus and knew I wanted to recreate it as some sort of punch art using Stampin' Up! supplies.

Lots of details on every layer of this card, but overall it is simple.  I think. :)

Jury is still out on that one!   I even used clear embossing powder on the black layer to mimic the shine on the real sushi wrapper.

Here is a Sushi Punch Art Tutorial if you are interested in trying it out for yourself. ;)

Have you ever searched the aisles of Target and been inspired?

365 Cards: Ombre Love You

Hope you aren't sick of the Valentines around here yet.... I have quite a few more to share with you before now and Valentine's Day!

I was inspired to make this one by this card by Kristina Werner.  I loved her concept and when I saw the video, I just had to go try and make one!

Any small heart image you have would work for this card!  And I don't have any Copics so I just used Stampin' Up! Markers and set the ink with my Heat Tool -- worked perfectly!! :)  Had a bit of a boo-boo with ink towards the end of stamping my hearts so I ended up adding the punched hearts -- accidents are always just creative opportunities! :)

Have you ever stamped a patterned background before?

Stampin' Up! Supplies Used:

Stamps: Love You to the Moon, Banner Blast (heart image)

Ink:  (Bottom to top) Cherry Cobbler, Real Red, Melon Mambo, Primrose Petals, Strawberry Slush, Blushing Bride, Pink Pirouette, Versamark

Recipe: Baked Chocolate Doughnuts with Chocolate Icing

Recipe : Baked Chocolate Doughnuts with Chocolate Icing

Cookbook/Source : Shugary Sweets

Notes :  I wanted to make Brian a chocolate iced doughnut.... and when I was searching for a recipe, I stumbled upon this one.  I only swapped out a few things to make do with what I had on hand. I omitted the half-and-half from the icing -- substituted a small amount more butter (maybe a 1/4 tablespoon?) and used milk instead.   I also didn't have any bittersweet chocolate in the pantry so I just used semi-sweet instead.  Neither substitution seemed to impact the flavor in the end.

Review : These were really, really good.  The icing ended up being a perfect chocolate doughnut glaze.  I will for sure use that again.  It was a lot of chocolate so maybe I'll pair that glaze recipe with a different base next time.  Bottom line?  This was good and I love my doughnut pan! :)

365 Cards: {Take 3} I Followed My Heart...

So can you tell I LOVE this sentiment stamp?! :)

And yet another combo I love for it :)  And this is actually a redesign of this card from Sunday!

I actually made 18 of these and sent out 17 of them for a swap with my Stampin' Up! upline group -- fellow demonstrators who are a part of the team I belong to under Lee Conrey.  She makes some gorgeous cards if you have a few minutes to visit her blog!  Anyway, I will get back an assortment of beautiful cards from my fellow teammates -- I'll be sure to share them over on my Facebook page when I do!

Have you made any valentines yet? :)

365 Cards: To a Classic Dad

So when I got sick last week, I got a little derailed from my original plan for this month of working through my stamps A to Z for the first round of cards....  I left off at the letter S with this card and today, I'm back to share a letter "T" stamp set I love and hadn't used!

It's hard to see but I actually stamped the red card base with one of the images from the set :)  And the black and white houndstooth?  I embossed a piece of white cardstock with the Houndstooth Embossing Folder, then used my brayer and Basic Black ink to apply color to the pattern!

I used ink pads and a blender pen to color in the image.  I love how this one turned out.  Definitely going to continue using the brayer now that I know how much fun it is!

What do you think? :)

I really wanted to create a fence for the cute little bird to stand on so I took some Baked Brown Sugar cardstock, cut it to size, embossed it with the Stripes embossing folder and punched one edge with the Scallop Border punch:

This is another card for my in-home workshop I'm teaching on Friday... you can host an in-home workshop, learn to make this card and earn free products at the same time!  Just call or email me if you are interested :)

365 Cards: Be My Valentine

On my very first Stampin' Up! order, before I was a Demonstrator, I bought the Paisley Prints stamp set.

And yes, I just used it for the first time.  That means it sat unused for over three years.... yikes! :/

But not anymore... I love paisley!  It's by far my favorite pattern in the design world.  Followed closely by polka dots, chevrons, stripes and wood grains (in no particular order).

Do you have a pattern you love?

365 Cards: For Baby

This has to be one of my favorite cards I've ever made.  So stinking cute.  If I do say so myself :)  And using my favorites.... baker's twine, polka dots, coloring with blender pens and using some dimensionals!

For some reason my sentiment got a bit washed out in the first photo, but you can see it better in this close-up:

So I saw this general layout (totally different stamps and I think buttons(?) instead of stars somewhere... online? Pinterest? A magazine?  This idea of a circle punched out on the bottom and some embellishments floating above with twine on the left side.... I saw it somewhere and it got stuck in my brain then decided to pop out when I was staring at the Nursery Times stamp set :)  So if you think your card is my muse for this layout.....?  Then thank you and I'll provide credit where it is due!

What do you think of this card?! :)

Recipe: Baked Chicken Parmesan

Recipe : Baked Chicken Parmesan

Cookbook/Source : SkinnyTaste

Notes :  We don't use jarred marinara sauce, we make our own every time.  A can of diced tomatoes, a small can of tomato sauce, 1/4 of an onion, 1-2 cloves garlic, some black pepper and some italian seasoning blend. Mixed and simmered all those ingredients in a pot on the stove while the chicken baked in the oven.  Once the chicken was done, we just assembled it on the plate -- didn't take time to bake the cheese and it worked out just fine.  We served it over spaghetti and had broccoli on the side.

Review : We both really liked this one.  Will definitely make it again -- it was simple, tasty and healthy.  WIN. :)  Will definitely be trying more of the recipes on that site!

365 Cards: Perk Up!

Any stamp set with coffee or tea?  Yeah, I tend to buy it.  Immediately.  :)

This set has been sitting in my stash for awhile now.... and I love it!  Another quick and easy card.... and I managed to use some patterned paper again! :)

Now I drink decaffeinated coffee and/or tea almost every day.... do you?  Or do you have some other beverage of choice? :)

365 Cards: Congratulations

I loved this stamp set when they first added it... bought it right away.  And then it promptly sat unused for quite awhile.... noticing a theme yet? (I have a bad habit of doing that!) :)

I wanted to keep this baby card neutral for those baby shower gifts where the parents have decided to wait to find out :)  I loved this idea and tried my best to keep it plain and simple...

Another baby card ready to use!  Now let's talk baby shower gifts.... do you have a go-to gift?  I tend to make blankets or quilts and pick up an item or two off their gift registry.

What's your go-to baby shower gift?

365 Cards: The World Got a Present...

I think this may be one of my favorite cards I've ever made!

It was a challenge for sure because I wanted to make a non-Christmas card with the Christmas themed Jolly Bingo Bits stamp set.   There were very few options for a non-Christmas image in that set... the present happened to be one of them!

I did a lot of hand coloring of the stamp and scrubbing in-between to change colors.... it may not look like it but this card took a long time!

Have you used markers to hand color a stamp?

Stampin' Up! Supplies Used:

Stamps: Jolly Bingo Bits (retired), Happiest Birthday Wishes (retired)
