Our First Five Years

It's amazing how time just flies right on by!  Later this year, we will be hitting the ten year mark since we met! :)  So today I'm sharing the first five.... rapid fire in mini album form! :)

I haven't been around here much cause I'm just running around like crazy trying to keep up with life!  I have some posts I want to write, so maybe I should just quit thinking about it and get to writing them!!  And, I'm super behind on reading my favorite blogs in my reader.  I'm hoping to catch up in the next week or so.  Hope you have a great weekend! :)

What Not to Do: Heat Embossing

Ever have one of those super simple "oh this will be a quick card" ideas, that quickly turns into an ordeal?  Yep, it happened to me while embossing recently.  To be fair, I went in with the intention of experimenting a little bit, but quickly learned a few important lessons!  I thought it would be fun to share so (a) you could learn from my mistakes and (b) it's fun to see craft fails! ;)

Before the fails, let's look at the final product:

Gorgeous, right?! :)   Here's the not-so-gorgeous..

(it's adjacent to the leaf on the flower....sigh...)

So I made my fourth and final attempt, which was a success!

I finished the card by using my stylus and paper cutter to dry emboss the lines around the edge of the card.  Have you ever photographed your craft fails?! :)

Card: Paisley Prints Thanks

Here's another card I made using the new Paisley Prints Designer Series Paper and Four Frames stamps!

I liked it so much, I made another one, changing out the patterned papers I was using:

To make the brown outline for the thanks label, I punch two decorative labels in Chocolate Chip, cut one in half lengthwise and the other in half widthwise.  I carefull glued them down to overlap, trimming a little bit in a few places.  I love how it turned out!

Ink:  Chocolate Chip, Bravo Burgandy
Stamp Sets:   Four Frames, Thank You Kindly

Card: Wishing You a Wonderful Day

So I loved this card so much, I made a two more with some small changes!  I swapped out the sentiment, added a few extra embellishments and altered the "frosting" top of the cupcake.

To make the "frosting" I punched the cupcake out, then took the decorative label punch and punched out a little of the top to make it look swirled.  Isn't it cute?!

Next I changed the colors around:
